Structure and processes

Sometimes the status quo makes moving forward impossible. Systems, regulations and processes that were established to create continuity or equity can end up hampering progress as times change — or may need to be revised to address unique circumstances.

The Ohio Smart Schools initiative will review statewide and local education policies, processes and structures to determine if they are holding back public schools in ways that no longer make sense in today's world.

We'll help identify dated or impractical ways of doing business, as well as newer approaches to providing education.

We'll ask questions to prod discussion, such as whether today's textbook requirements will continue to be valid as the world moves toward electronic readers or whether education practices lag behind those being used in the business world.

In short, we'll take a hard look at the status quo to find what's working and what isn't.
